On the morning of Friday, July 19, the Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion, Zaida Rovira Jurado, visited the Oramas González Cooperative, in the Durán canton, and toured the facilities where this State portfolio will implement a Comprehensive Family Space, which will benefit the community of this sector and the most vulnerable population.
During this visit, Minister Rovira, who was accompanied by national, district and zone 8 authorities of the MIES, announced that the work is expected to be completed in a period of approximately two months. The Durán Integrated Family Space will operate in a building, whose construction was halted in 2023, as a result of the insecurity in this canton and threats to contractors by criminal groups.
“When we took over in November of last year, we found it already abandoned, because the contractors decided not to continue with the work,” explained the head of MIES.
He also indicated that the concept of care will be similar to those already operating in Quito and Guayaquil, although with greater emphasis on care for girls and boys in early childhood, through the creation of a Child Development Center. This space will also have the participation and care of other State entities such as the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Telecommunications, among others.
The Minister also said that the investment in this building is close to USD 500,000, while the construction space exceeds 1,200 square meters.
It should be noted that in Durán, the MIES serves around 22 thousand people from priority and vulnerable groups, with its services, bonuses and pensions. This represents an investment of more than USD 8.3 million during the first half of this year.
In addition, and as part of this tour, Minister Rovira spoke with entrepreneurial women who offer their products in a market near the aforementioned building, with whom she shared the proximity of this project that will benefit the citizens of this canton.
