The cabinet ministers approved this morning (Monday) in a telephone poll the expansion of the list of red states, in accordance with the recommendation of the Committee for the Classification of States in the Ministry of Health discussed yesterday at the cabinet meeting.
Accordingly, the countries: Italy, USA, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Morocco, Portugal, Canada, Switzerland and Turkey – will be defined as red starting tomorrow at midnight – the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, subject to the approval of the Knesset’s Constitution Committee.
As stated, the decision was discussed last night at the weekly cabinet meeting and was brought to the approval of the ministers upon completion of the drafting of regulations. Transport Minister Merav Michaeli again opposed the decision due to the fact that there is no compensation mechanism for the world of aviation.
Criteria for classifying countries as red: State reporting of 10% prevalence of omicron based on A and SGTF flooring or omicron rate among incoming passengers over 5 verified to omicron per 10,000 incoming passengers, and also the total omicron rate verified from this country over 10% .High geographical accuracy for countries with incidence above 10%.

A red state is a state to which entry is prohibited except with an exceptional permit, and all returnees from a red state will be charged with full isolation. After receiving a negative result, they will be allowed to complete the period of isolation in their home, as long as they declare that no one other than them lives or stays in the home.
Guidelines for returnees from red countries:
• Defenders returning to Israel from red countries – After performing the test at Ben Gurion Airport, they will sign the “agreement” and enter home isolation for 7 days, at the end of which they will be required to perform another PCR test. After a negative answer in this test, the above will be released from isolation.
• Returns to Israel from red countries are not protected – After performing a PCR test at Ben Gurion Airport, they will be referred for isolation in a motel until the test result is obtained, after which:
(•) If the test result is negative, the above will sign the “contract” and be transferred to home isolation to complete the isolation days for 7 days, at the end of which they will be required to perform another PCR test.
(•) If the test result is positive, the above will remain in the motel until recovery.
