‘Minister’s Statement Humbled’; KCA may lose the World Cup, Karivattam has reduced the number of spectators

by time news

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cricket Association President Jayesh George has criticized the lack of spectators in the India-Sri Lanka third ODI match held at Kariyavattam. At least the crowd will be a setback for Kerala. Because of this, the sponsors are disappointed. Jayesh George added that this will affect the efforts to bring the upcoming ODI World Cup to Kerala.

Jayesh George also pointed out that the lack of spectators will be used by other associations. Not only the minister’s statement but also many other factors have contributed. It may be due to the fact that the matches are close to each other and it is an ODI match. The KCA president also said that Pongal, Parikhesh and Sabarimala may have contributed to the decrease in the number of spectators.

The ticket price was fixed in a meeting with Sports Minister V Abdur Rahiman. The minister’s statement was backfired. It is also possible that the Minister was misled that he had not studied about KCA. The KCA chairman said that he might have tried to add fuel to the fire somewhere. Minister V Abdurrahman’s reaction to the ticket price hike was controversial. The minister’s response was that those who are hungry should not go to watch the game. The entertainment tax was raised from 5% to 12%.
