The Chess Olympiad torch inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi reached Mamallapuram this morning after traveling around 75 cities in India. Ministers Meyyanathan and Th.Mo.Anparasan gave a warm welcome and received the torch.

The 44th International Chess Olympiad will be held in Mamallapuram next to Chennai from tomorrow (Thursday) till 10th of next month. More than 2,000 male and female chess players from 187 countries are participating in this tournament.

As a part of this, it was decided to conduct the Chess Olympiad torch relay to create awareness among the people. Accordingly, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Chess Olympiad torch in Delhi on 19th of last month.

The Chess Olympiad torch relay started last month and was taken to 75 cities across India. This torch was taken to various districts in Tamil Nadu including Coimbatore, Salem, Nellai, Kanyakumari, Tanjore.

In this situation, the Chess Olympiad torch inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi reached Mamallapuram today. 4

After crossing 75 cities in India in 0 days, Jyoti has arrived at Mamallapuram where the Chess Olympiad is held. Ministers and officials welcomed the Chess Olympiad torch with drumbeats. Sports Minister Meiyanathan, Rural Industries Minister Thamo Anparasan and others received the Olympic torch. Chess Olympiad torch is going to reach Chennai this evening.
