jpnn.com – JAKARTA – The Ministry of Agriculture is trying to increase the added value of livestock products by diversifying processing.

This aims to optimize the potential of livestock products, such as meat, milk and eggs, so that they can be processed into various higher value products.

Diversification not only improves product quality, but also helps farmers increase income and product competitiveness in the market.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture is also preparing anticipatory steps to face the long dry season which is projected to have a significant impact on the national agricultural sector.

“We are committed to maintaining the sustainability of the agricultural sector and the welfare of farmers in Indonesia. Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture is campaigning for the diversity or diversification of food sources as intake for the Indonesian people,” said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman.

According to him, diversification of food source intake must be done in order to absorb more varied nutrition.

“One of the goals is food diversification. This is very important because if we want to be healthy, we must diversify the food sources of the Indonesian people. So, we will develop this later,” said the Minister of Agriculture.

Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resources Development Agency (BPPSDMP) Idha Widi Arsanti said that diversification of processed livestock products aims to provide a variety of products with greater economic value, extend the shelf life of products, and increase competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Diversification not only improves product quality, but also helps farmers increase their income.
