jpnn.com – The Director General of Postal and Informatics Services (Dirjen PPI) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) Wayan Toni Supriyanto revealed the latest news regarding the data theft case that occurred at Indosat.

According to him, the cellphone numbers of the Indosat cellular operator whose registration data was stolen will definitely be deactivated or turned off.

“This has been taken down, the number has not been activated. In accordance with the mechanism. If the number has been activated under someone else’s name, the organizer will definitely stop it, delete the name or number that is already active and misused,” said Wayan in Jakarta, Tuesday.

He said that his party had made clarification to Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) to ensure that this case had been handled properly.

The Ministry of Communication and Information stated that it is open to assisting the legal process for cases of misuse of public data for the benefit of the perpetrators.

He emphasized that in terms of prepaid card number registration, people must use their own personal data so that their mobile numbers are not misused.

“It is clear that there are rules for registration, just follow them. That you are not allowed to use other people’s data,” said Wayan.

Previously, on Monday (2/9), the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized that the government would not tolerate cybercriminals, including personal data thieves.
