Title: Ministry of Defense Details Ingenuity in Defense Procurement During Ongoing Conflict

Date: November 2, 2023

The Ministry of Defense has provided an update on the extensive defense procurement measures undertaken during the ongoing conflict. Aimed at ensuring the operational continuity of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and supporting the war effort on the civilian front, the ministry highlights the proactive steps taken to secure necessary resources.

Since the commencement of the conflict, defense procurement from abroad has relied on the air and sea train, which has already facilitated the arrival of 100 planes and 5 ships carrying over 3,000 tons of armaments, armored vehicles, protective equipment, ceramic protective panels, and medical supplies.

As the conflict enters its second month, the Ministry of Defense is prepared to receive increased supplies to bolster the country’s defense capabilities. To date, thousands of ‘blue and white’ purchase orders, amounting to approximately NIS 6 billion, have been carried out by the ministry. In response to the urgent demand, Israeli defense industries have ramped up production, operating around the clock under the guidance of the Ministry of Defense and the IDF.

In addition to procurement efforts, the Ministry of Defense discloses that the Administration for Research, Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure (PAAT) has invested over 3 billion shekels during the first month of fighting. These investments have been channeled towards research, development, and equipping, including both defensive and offensive capabilities.

Moreover, the ministry acknowledges the significant disruption caused by the conflict on a domestic level. In the first month alone, 651 factories were forced to suspend operations, impacting approximately 57,000 essential workers. To alleviate transportation challenges, the IDF has secured the rental of thousands of vehicles, buses, trucks, transporters, and heavy equipment from the ‘Amon’ wing.

The Ministry of Defense’s commitment to ensuring the IDF’s operational readiness and the overall effectiveness of the war effort remains steadfast. By diligently procuring necessary resources, implementing advanced research and development, and mitigating the impact on essential industries, the ministry aims to provide crucial support in the defense of Israel.

In light of the ongoing conflict, the Ministry of Defense urges citizens to stay informed by signing up for daily email updates, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a collective understanding of the situation.

Together, the Israeli people and the defense forces are determined to overcome the challenges posed by the conflict and safeguard the nation’s security.
