Ministry of Finance discusses ways to achieve sustainable development

The Minister of Finance of the Government of National Unity, Khaled Al-Mabrouk, met with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Libya, Sophie Kimkhadze, “to discuss ways to enhance the partnership between the two sides and work together to achieve the sustainable development goals in the country.”

The meeting stressed “the importance of reforming public finances and developing the financial digitization program, by updating financial systems and simplifying procedures. The importance of medium- and short-term financial planning was also emphasized to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development throughout the country.”

The Minister expressed the “role of Ministry of Finance In achieving the goals of sustainable development as well as the challenges it faces in providing all financial services to entities funded by the public treasury in the easiest ways and within the timetable prepared by the Ministry to liquidate the salaries of employees in the government sector as well as preparing a proposal for the draft general budget of the state:

Sophie Kimkhadze, UNDP Resident Representative in Libya, stressed the “need to intensify such meetings and gatherings in order to enhance the activities between the Ministry of Finance and UNDP in Libya to harness all possibilities and solve the problems and obstacles that hinder the achievement of sustainable development goals in accordance with the aspirations, hopes and ambitions of the Libyan people.”
