JAKARTA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) ensures that the government can communicate with Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) volunteers from Indonesia in Gaza, Palestine.

This was in response to news that three MER-C volunteers had lost contact in North Gaza, Palestine, since Friday, October 27 2023. “They have been reconnected,” said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, Sunday (29/10/2023).

Iqbal explained that it was not only MER-C volunteers who lost contact, but several parties from Indonesia also had their communication access cut off on the same date.

“On 27-28 there was a loss of contact, not only with MER-C volunteers but also with all parties in Gaza. Because Israel cut off internet access. Currently most of them are connected,” he explained.

As previously reported, three MER-C volunteers from Indonesia lost contact in North Gaza, Palestine, since Friday, October 27 2023. The three volunteers are, Farid Zanjabil, Reza, and Fikri.

“There are three of our volunteers there (Gaza). Yes, it’s true they’ve lost contact since yesterday. We’re still looking for their whereabouts,” said Head of the MER-C Presidium, Sarbini Abdul Murad when confirmed by MNC Portal in Jakarta, Saturday, October 28 2023.

Based on MER-C’s latest communication, said Sarbini, the three volunteers were at the Indonesian Hospital in Bait Lahiya, North Gaza, Gaza Strip, Palestine.
