Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has frozen the annual leave of all its employees. It has been decided that no one will be given leave between December 26 and January 31. The move comes in the wake of rising Kovid cases in the country and reports of Omikron variants.

Ministry of Health Under Secretary Dr. Mustafa Rida, through a special notification, froze the annual tenure of all ministry employees. It has been decided that no one will be given leave between December 26 and January 31. The notification came on Thursday. The Omicron variant was found in 12 Kuwaiti nationals returning from European countries yesterday.

This brings the total number of Omikron cases reported in the country to 13. The daily Kovid confirmation rate has also increased for a week. On Wednesday, Kovid 19 was newly confirmed for 143 people. Some of the intensive care units that were closed due to lack of patients have resumed operations. Currently 18 people are being treated in Kovid ward and six in ICU. The Ministry of Health has advised people to avoid traveling abroad as much as possible in the new situation.
