O Ministry of Health included vaccination against Covid-19 in the children’s calendar. Starting this year, children will have priority access to vaccination. The idea is to vaccinate all children aged six months to five years. In total, there will be three doses. Those who have already taken it do not need to go to the health center, however, children who have not yet been vaccinated should be careful. The vaccine used will be the pediatric Pfizer vaccine, which has proven to be 80% efficient, according to the Ministry of Health. The government decided to include children as the target audience for vaccination, because from January to August 2023, 3,441 cases of Covid in children under one year of age and, of this total, 84 died, hence the assessment that immunization protects. In addition to children, people with comorbidities, pregnant women and new mothers, health workers, indigenous people, quilombolas, people living in long-term institutions, people deprived of liberty, young people in the shelter system and prison system employees will be immunized. If there are new outbreaks, the government does not rule out general immunization, but until then, in 2024, immunization will follow priority groups.
