Ministry of Health strengthens migration surveillance in response to monkeypox alert

The Minister of Health of President Nayib Bukele’s government, Francisco Alabi, explained that no cases of monkeypox have been reported in the country.

Following the alert issued by the World Health Organization, the State portfolio stressed that they are monitoring all border points and different clinics to prevent the presence of the virus.

Among the measures promoted by the Ministry of Health are:

International Health Offices (OSI) at all borders of entry into the country for epidemiological surveillance, in addition to epidemiologists in the 14 departments that complement the sentinel work.

The Ministry of Health also has trained personnel to approach potential patients and has defined a care protocol; the national laboratory network can also perform diagnostic tests.

“We remain attentive to the evolution of the disease and are redoubling our efforts to safeguard the lives of the population,” the institution said.
