More than 138,000 people were unable to pass the driving license exam under the new rules, which came into force on April 1, TASS reports, citing the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“During the period from April 1 to April 20, over 71,000 driving licenses were issued to persons who successfully passed exams for the right to drive vehicles in Russia. According to the results of the practical exam … more than 138,000 unsatisfactory marks were given, ”the message says.

The ministry explained that most often candidates do not give way or interfere with cars and pedestrians who have an advantage, ignore the requirements of road markings, do not turn on direction indicators, etc.

On April 1, new rules for passing the driver’s license exam came into force. The “platform” was removed from the exam: all the exercises will be performed by candidates on the streets of the city. The exam will not be conducted on pre-known routes so that future drivers cannot learn them by heart. All errors are divided into several groups according to the number of penalty points that are given for them.

In April 2018, the traffic police announced that the practical part of the driver’s license exam, consisting of two parts, can be combined into one. During the preparation of the new regulations and discussions about it in 2019, the State Traffic Inspectorate announced that it plans to completely cancel penalty points for passing the practical exam, wrote TASS. Driving school representatives criticized the abolition of practical driving on the site. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Education and Science also criticized the initiative, Kommersant wrote.
