by time news

Former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili insulted the medical staff and damaged expensive medical equipment, the Ministry of Justice of the country said. The General Inspectorate of the Ministry launched an investigation into this fact. On the eve of the former president, he was transported to a prison hospital in an armored car and a helicopter.

“After Mikheil Saakashvili was placed in facility no. 18, he insulted the penitentiary staff physically and verbally, and also damaged expensive medical equipment,” the Justice Ministry said in a statement.

The penitentiary service published a video of the ex-president collecting things in prison, before being transferred to the hospital.

The head of the Ministry of Justice, Rati Bregadze, explained the transfer of Mr. Saakashvili to the prison hospital by the fact that he refused to receive treatment. “The risk that his health could deteriorate has increased,” the minister of Imedi TV said (his words are quoted on the agency’s website). According to Mr. Bregadze, the decision was made for the safety of the ex-president.

Mikheil Saakashvili was arrested after arriving in Georgia during the country’s first round of municipal elections. In prison, he went on a hunger strike. On November 7, the ex-president announced that he was refusing to take medications.
