jpnn.comSURAKARTA – The Ministry of Manpower through the Surakarta Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) signed a joint commitment in an effort to improve the competence of prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) with the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Center (BP3MI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Central Java and East Java.

The signing ceremony for the joint commitment took place at the BPVP Surakarta, Central Java, Friday (5/7).

Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, who was present at the signing of the commitment, said that job training is an effective medium to prepare prospective workers for the needs of the job market because it is carried out in a short duration.

“Preparation of prospective workers through training must be designed according to the needs of the type of work, both for domestic and international needs,” said Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah in his official statement, Saturday (6/7).

It should be noted that in recent years, demand for Prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers, both in the formal and non-formal sectors in several friendly countries has continued to increase.

The request, either with the scheme Government to Government (G to G), Government to Private (G to P) or scheme Specified Skilled Workers (SSW) or commonly known as workers with special skills.

“One of the factors causing the increasing demand for prospective migrant workers is the decreasing number of productive workers in the country,” said Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah.

As mandated in Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, continued Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah, to prepare prospective workers who will work abroad, there needs to be an increase in quality through education and job training.

The Ministry of Manpower and BP3MI DIY, Central Java, and East Java signed a joint commitment to prepare the competencies of prospective Indonesian migrant workers.
