Ministry of Religion Appreciates BAZNAS UPZ Performance in Improving Community Welfare

jpnn.comBOGOR – The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) appreciates the performance of the BAZNAS Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) which has helped improve the welfare of the community.

This appreciation was conveyed by the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, Prof. Dr. Phil. H. Kamaruddin Amin, MA, at the opening of the 2024 National Level UPZ Working Meeting (Raker).

The work meeting with the theme ‘Building Professionalism in Zakat Management in UPZ with Alignment of Steps and Goals to Increase the Benefit of the Community’ was held in Bogor, Monday (2/9).

“On behalf of the government, representing the Minister, in this case, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and highest appreciation to all of us who have worked continuously to improve the quality of life of the nation and state in Indonesia,” said Prof. Dr. Phil. H. Kamaruddin Amin, Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Kamaruddin also appealed to all UPZ to optimize zakat collection. Currently, UPZ is still focusing on professional zakat, not on performance allowances and others.

“The potential for zakat mal, such as zakat on gold, wealth, investment and others have not been covered. This means that there is still potential that has not been covered and the potential in the future will be greater,” he said.

Kamaruddin added that UPZ also needs to pay attention to governance and accountability.

Through this National Level BAZNAS UPZ Working Meeting, Kamaruddin hopes that zakat management will be more effective and efficient, and can increase benefits to realize the welfare of mustahik.

The Ministry of Religion appreciates the performance of UPZ BAZNAS in improving the welfare of the community.
