On the 4th, a day before the August extraordinary session of the National Assembly, the Democratic Party of Korea said to Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, “Rather than finding a ‘real limit,’ he must first come up with a ‘real’ policy and vision that is different from that of President Yoon who is not in communication,” and “The first step is Han Dong-hoon’s special prosecutor for Hae-byeong Chae.”

Kang Yoo-jung, the Democratic Party’s floor spokesperson, held a briefing at the National Assembly Communication Center at 11 a.m. that day and urged, “Propose a ‘thick’ special prosecution bill for Hae-byeong Chae,” adding, “Stop opening your mouth to blame the Democratic Party and only making excuses for the National Assembly. Instead, confidently put yourselves on the line and propose a special prosecution bill.”

Kang Won-sik, the floor leader, said, “If you only want to find fault with the Democratic Party’s work without taking action or putting it into practice, you can just do political commentary from the outskirts,” and once again demanded, “When the extraordinary session of the National Assembly opens in August, immediately present the Hae-byeong Chae Special Prosecutor Act by Dong-hoon Han.”

He added, “The Democratic Party is always ready to talk about various methods, including the third-party plan,” and “I urge Representative Han to propose the special prosecutor bill for Hae-byung Chae, which he previously proposed, through the People Power Party members on his side.”

One representative proposed a “third-party recommended special prosecutor bill for Hae-byung Chae” during the People Power Party’s national convention. Appearing on TV Chosun’s “Strong Enemies” the previous afternoon, he said, “If I simply oppose (the special prosecutor bill for Hae-byung Chae), it could be misunderstood by the public as opposing the truth-finding, which is why I proposed the third-party special prosecutor bill,” adding, “We will fully express our opinions during the process of deciding on the party’s position, and there may be differences of opinion.”
