These are the first words that Miñones has pronounced upon taking over the Health portfolio from his predecessor, Carolina Darias, in a massive act in which he has been supported by the first and second vice presidents, Nadia Calviño and Yolanda Díaz, respectively, and the ministers of Justice, Pilar Llop; from the Treasury, María Jesús Montero; of Education, Pilar Alegría; of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños; Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, and Science, Diana Morant.

Words that he wanted to be “recognition, support and support for public health”, one of the “greatest achievements” of Spain as a country. “The Government defends a public, universal, quality, equitable, efficient and sustainable health model”, in short, a public health system “sensitive to the needs of citizens”, he highlighted.

After extolling the “excellent” work of Darias in the ministry, to which he intends to give “continuity” starting today, Miñones wished him luck on the “precious” path of municipalism, “one of the pillars of politics” and in the one who himself learned to “be close to people” to help them solve their problems.

“The policy of closeness is something that I have always kept in mind”, Miñones continued before assuring that municipalism will continue to mark its path in this new stage “with enormous responsibility and the same dose of humility and enthusiasm” and in which it has committed ” from now on” the dialogue with all the communities to continue advancing “in the health challenge”.

To the entire health sector, associations, unions, patients, schools and industry, he has promised to work “from the conviction that there is no spending on health, but investment in health.”

Miñones has also had words of gratitude to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for the trust he has placed in him, the team he leaves in Galicia, the party and his family, especially his wife and children, to whom he owes ” all”.

But he wanted to end with a message addressed to health professionals: “I assure you that for the young man who long ago crossed the Santiago campus at night to the Faculty of Pharmacy, the oath that always guides me remains valid: apply all my knowledge and all my abilities to promote the health and well-being of all those people I serve”.

“Thus, step by step, we will continue to build a great country”, concluded the number one of the Ministry of Health.

In the “symbolic” act, which was also attended by, among others, the new director of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González; the Secretary of State for Health, Silvia Calzón; the director of the Health Alerts and Emergencies Coordination Center, Fernando Simón; and the former Minister of Health María Luisa Carcedo, Darias has made himself available to Miñones “wherever he is”.

“It has not been easy, but it has been possible”, Darias emphasized about “a time that has not been just any time”, and he has wished his successor luck “in this new endeavor”.
