Seven people were arrested on Tuesday June 27 at the start of the evening in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) during tensions with the police deployed in the city a few hours after a 17-year-old young man was killed by a policeman, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned from the police headquarters.

Two units of mobile forces, including members of CRS 8 – specializing in the fight against urban violence – are present in the town for the night, reported the Ministry of the Interior.

The policeman suspected of having killed the young man was taken into custody for intentional homicide. The facts took place around 8:30 a.m. near the Nanterre-Préfecture RER station, near Nelson-Mandela Square, behind the La Défense business district.

Two open investigations

A video broadcast on social networks and authenticated by The world shows the stopped vehicle, two police officers standing to the side at the front window, one of whom is pointing at the driver. When the car starts to restart, one of the two police officers opens fire, hitting the man in the chest. Another video shows the damaged car a few meters away, surrounded by rescuers.

One of them, standing, leaning on the windshield, is aiming at the driver with his gun. When the driver restarts, the policeman shoots at point-blank range from the side of the vehicle. The car ended its race a few tens of meters further, embedded in a post. The victim, a 17-year-old minor, died shortly after being hit, despite the intervention of the SAMU.
