On the 5th, Go Young-wook announced the opening of a YouTube channel on X (former Twitter) with the message, “I’ve lived a shameful life. I feel like I’ve been aging miserably, just sitting at home muttering, so I’m starting a YouTube channel without any particular order to escape my listless daily life. Be careful of your health in this hot weather.”
Afterwards, Go Young-wook posted a video titled ‘Fresh’ on his YouTube channel ‘Go! Young-wook’. As of 7:30 AM on the 7th, the video has been viewed over 175,000 times, and the channel has over 3,200 subscribers.
The video shows a dog resting in the sunlight. The unreleased solo song ‘Fresh’ plays as background music. The lyrics say, ‘The sunlight is pouring down outside the window all day long. I just sit there and relieve my drowsiness. There’s nothing to do today. There’s nowhere else to go. I want to escape from this boring daily life.’
The public is pouring out criticism for the surprising actions of Ko Young-wook, who served a prison sentence for sexual assault and molestation of a minor.
In an interview with Star News on the 6th, Go Young-wook revealed his feelings, saying, “I’m confused as to whether it’s better to just live quietly without being able to do anything if you have a criminal record. I also feel sorry towards my mother.”
Regarding his daily routine, he said, “I wake up, clean the house, clean up the dog’s poop, and ride my bike to the market or mart for exercise. It’s too hot these days to ride,” adding, “It’s a simple routine that’s almost repetitive. It’s something I can do. Even though I’m unemployed, the days are short.”
When asked about his future plans to release YouTube content, he reportedly said, “I don’t know.”
Meanwhile, Go Young-wook was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison, 3 years of electronic ankle bracelet, and 5 years of personal information disclosure in 2013 on charges of forcibly molesting and sexually assaulting three minors over a period of two years starting in July 2010.
Ko Young-wook, who was released from prison in July 2015, opened an Instagram account in 2020. However, the account was deleted within a day in accordance with the policy prohibiting the creation of sex offender accounts.
