Two minors were rescued by the National Army last Saturday, May 11, in the municipality of Cumaribo, Vichada, after escaping from a dissident group of the Central General Staff (EMC) that had forcibly recruited them. This group, linked to the extinct FARC guerrilla, operates in the region and is considered one of the largest among the dissidents.

According to the official statement, the minors were found in a rural area after being taken against their will by armed individuals belonging to the aforementioned EMC structure. According to authorities, the young people were uniformed and given long-range weapons after their capture last month near the Guacamayas sector.
However, the minors managed to escape the ranks of the dissidents due to the mistreatment they received from the subversives. After fleeing to a home and alerting the troops, the established rescue protocol was activated and they were placed in the custody of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF).

The National Army denounced this fact before the judicial authorities, describing it as a violation of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Human Rights. Likewise, they reaffirmed continuing with military operations to counteract the criminal actions of organized armed groups in the region, with the objective of guaranteeing the security and tranquility of the civilian population in Eastern Colombia.
