Telecom operators will have to justify the planned increase in tariffs. Such a mechanism is being developed by the Ministry of Digital Development and the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), said Maksut Shadayev, head of the ministry. The innovation was explained by the need to protect the investment costs of operators.
“We agreed with the FAS that we will work out a mechanism for operators to protect their investment costs. Accordingly, the tariff indexation that the operators will carry out, we agreed that there will be a mechanism that will allow, before making a decision, to justify a potential possible increase in tariffs in a certain format, which will be linked to a transparent model where they show their expenses,” quote Shadayev “Izvestia”.
According to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, they plan to agree on such a format in September 2023.
On April 20, the largest telecom operators complained to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev about a sharp rise in the cost of connecting communication equipment to the power grid, warning of an increase in tariffs for subscribers and a slowdown in the construction of networks.
