Everything indicated that it would be another ordinary day in the life of the family of Austyn Whaley and her daughter, Penny, just 1 year and 8 months old, but they had no idea that a shocking accident would change their lives forever, something that many, now, they are calling it a “miracle”.
Father and daughter were traveling back home, towards Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, on the 31st, when the vehicle was hit by a truck. The impact was so strong that it destroyed almost the entire family car.
Surprisingly, the space in the car seat where Penny was sitting was practically intact. Austyn’s sister commented, “It’s almost like this perfect little dome that’s around her,” she said, explaining that the crumpled part of the vehicle came to rest right next to the baby’s face. “I mean, the cable wires went through the passenger side.”
Passing by the accident site, workers Rick Palagyi and Shane Oehler decided to help. They heard Penny crying and decided to act quickly, rescuing the child and also her father, who was apparently unconscious.
To this day, Austyn doesn’t remember anything that happened that day. “I was in darkness because I must have hit my head so hard, but I don’t even remember the accident, not a single bit of it,” he told canal WKRC-TV.
Heroic act
Austyn said he is a tall person and it couldn’t have been easy to be removed from the car by the “angels” who appeared to help them. “I have to applaud them because this is not easy to do,” he said.
Despite the shocking accident, father and daughter survived without serious injuries. Penny has a broken leg and Austyn has some fractures, but they are both out of danger. The family says they were blessed with a miracle from God. Watch:
