Mirmax is suing Quentin Tarantino

by time news

The film production and distribution company Mirmax today (Wednesday) filed a lawsuit against Quentin Tarantino for selling the NFT from the film “Cheap Literature,” Variety magazine reported. “Mirmax” is the one that produced and distributed the film and therefore, they claim, some of the rights to it belong to them as well. According to the lawsuit, the company did not know about the planned sale and is demanding a restraining order against it, as well as compensation in the amount determined by the court or the maximum possible amount in law and an apology from Trentino.

The lawsuit alleges breach of contract, copyright infringement, trademark infringement and more. Trentino’s lawyer claims that the director has reserved his right to publish the script in a contract with the company and that he is now exercising his right through the online sale. The company, for its part, claims that such a sale is one-time and therefore not equivalent to publishing the script. According to overseas publications, Trentino chose not to comment on the publication.

The director announced in early November that he plans to put up for auction 7 unedited scenes from the film “Cheap Literature” that will be sold as NFT and will contain parts of Trentino’s original handwriting and recordings with dedications and commentary in his voice. Each file will contain confidential content that will be displayed solely to its owner, and has never been seen or heard before. The public part that will be presented to the general public will be the “cover” of the file. The Israeli company SCRTLabs is the one that put the files up for sale.

Trentino praises Israel: “Glad I spent the closure period there”

Will there be an Israeli character in Trentino’s next film?

“Pulp Fiction” is Quentin Tarantino’s second film and was a huge success despite the relatively modest investment in its production – only $ 10 million. The Mirmax company is the one behind the successful film and behind other films such as: “Chicago”, “Dead to Scream”, “The English Wounded”, “Life is Beautiful” and more.
