As part of the ‘shutdown’ program of the anti-quota agitators, the movement of metro rail from Agargaon to Pallabi section of Dhaka was stopped after noon on Thursday. Metrorail is running from Agargaon to Motijheel and from Uttara to Pallavi.

According to the Facebook page of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, for the safety of passengers, the movement of metro trains has been stopped at Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara and Sheorapara metro rail stations for a temporary period from 2:25 PM today. However, metro trains are running normally from Uttara North to Pallabi and from Motijheel to Agargaon. Closed stations will be notified immediately when they are reopened.

Mahmood Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police of MRT Police, said that the movement of trains in that part of the metro rail has been stopped due to security reasons. If the situation is normal, the metro rail movement will resume.

After clashes between police and Chhatra League in different parts of the country in the last two days, the agitators have announced ‘Complete Shutdown’ program. Due to this program, there have been reports of road blockades and clashes in various parts of the capital since Thursday morning. Working people have suffered greatly due to the crisis of public transport.
