As part of the project “Kinomuzu yaradanlar… kinomuzu yaşadanlar” (Creators of our cinema… Continuers of our cinema), an event dedicated to the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, singer and actor, the inimitable and unique Mirza Babayev (1913-2003) was held at the Nizami Cinema Center. , reports Day.Az with reference to Trend.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the organization of the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Nizami Cinema Center, the State Film Fund of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijanfilm film studio named after Jafar Jabbarli, its goal is to preserve the traditions of national cinema, convey them to future generations, as well as further familiarize viewers with creative heritage of filmmakers.
Speaking at the opening of the evening, Director of the State Film Fund, Honored Artist, film director Jamil Guliyev described Mirza Babayev as a talented musical figure, noting that he made a great contribution to the development of Azerbaijani cinema.
“Turning through the pages of the book of Mirza Babayev’s life, an unforgettable era of the musical history of our people comes to life before us. The prominent singer performed with great skill the works of Tofig Guliyev, Emin Sabitoglu, Rauf Hajiyev and other composers. These songs are among the bright pearls of our musical culture. Mirza Babayev as an actor with high professionalism, he embodied various images in cinema,” noted the Honored Artist.
Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Dilyara Seyidzade spoke about the work of the famous film director Huseyn Seyidzade (1910-1979). It was noted that Huseyn Seyidzade was one of the cultural figures who created the chronicle of the history of Azerbaijani cinema. And today it is impossible to watch Mirza Babayev’s participation in the dance scene of Huseyn Seyidzade’s film “The Indomitable Chicken” (Dəli Kür) without emotions.
Honored cultural worker Rahib Azeri emphasized that Mirza Babayev was a unique person, the songs he performed, the roles he embodied are remembered and loved by the audience.
The grandson of Mirza Babayev, Emin Babayev, on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan for hosting the event, and also shared his memories of his grandfather.
Then, the film directed by Huseyn Seyidzade, “The Indomitable Chicken,” filmed in 1969, was presented to the participants of the evening.
