BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Singapore for health check-up.
He left Dhaka on a Singapore Airlines flight at 11:55 pm on Sunday (September 1), said BNP Secretary General Yunus Ali’s personal assistant.
Yunus Ali said that Mirza Fakhrul Islam will see two expert doctors in Singapore. Doctors’ appointments have already been taken. He will return home on September 7 after the checkup.
Incidentally, in 2015, while incarcerated, the BNP Secretary General was found to have a block in the internal carotid artery of his neck. After his release from prison, he went to Singapore for treatment. Since then he has to go to Singapore every year for follow-up treatment.
Mirza Fakhrul went to Singapore last March 4 for health examination.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul’s wife Rahat Ara Begum also went to Singapore on August 27 due to illness. Because of the flood situation in the country at that time and the party’s founding anniversary ceremony, the BNP Secretary General went to Singapore last Sunday night instead of going that day.
