Misadventure for Al Bano on the plane: “I was denied access to the bathroom”
Small inconvenience for Al Bano during the trip by plane to Zagreb, where he went to celebrate the graduation of his daughter Cristel Carrisi, who has just become a Doctor of Literature at Harvard University in Boston and has been living in Croatia for years. According to what she tells theAnsa“upon landing I asked to go to the toilet but was prevented from doing so, which was unacceptable“: so says the singer of Cellino San Marco – 80 years old on May 20th – returning from the concert event at the Verona Arena.
“I was sitting in seat 1A, I had prostate surgery and right at the moment of landing I needed the bathroom and I asked to use it”, explains Al Bano. “Meanwhile the ladder that they had fixed to the internal door to let us go down had blocked it and the corridor was full of people. The hostess replied that it was not possible and she let me ordered to sit down. I raised my voice, because it was absurd. I asked to speak to the commander, but nothing. Even a Croatian lady, who spoke Italian, tried to explain my need, but there was nothing they could do. They let the passengers off the back door, but they didn’t let me go to the bathroom back there either. Indeed, perhaps because of the altercation I had with the stewardess, I found the police at the exit: they put me in a corner and wanted to check my passport. In the end I was allowed to go and get my suitcase.”
The hitch was then resolved in the best possible way within a short time, but Al Bano is left with a bitter taste. “I am sixty years I fly and I’ve never had such an inconvenience. I speak as a citizen: going to the bathroom was my right, it is unacceptable that I was not allowed. Something like this can happen to other passengers as well,” she concludes.
