The App Store and Google Play may soon stop letting you download apps in Russia, so you need to create your own platform, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during a government report to the State Duma.
During his speech, Mishustin turned to developers and programmers with a proposal to create their own ecosystem. “There are elements of this ecosystem that need to be improved. We need to make our own online store, because the App Store and Google Play today we can practically not give us the opportunity to download applications soon, ”said the head of government (quoted by TASS).
According to Mishustin, Russia has given IT specialists every opportunity to work in the country. “Do not be afraid of anything, do not trust anyone in this sense. Everything will be fine here, everything will be reliable, and you will be able to work quietly for your country, for your company, earn normal money and live comfortably here,” he added.
On March 22, Maksut Shadayev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development, announced that the first online trading platform with Russian software would start operating in May. “Now we have already started rebuilding our registry of Russian software, making it a full-fledged marketplace. We hope that in May we will be able to launch the first version of such a marketplace,” the minister explained then, noting that the import substitution of specialized software “causes the greatest concern.” We are talking about programs for the oil and gas sector, engineering software for complex design, as well as graphic software for ordinary users.
On April 5, Maxim Parshin, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development, announced that the department was opening the acceptance of applications from copyright holders to place products on the Russian software marketplace. He also announced his intention to make the marketplace a convenient platform for interaction between copyright holders and customers of Russian software. The product page will contain data on its functionality, cost, scope and compatibility with operating systems, as well as information on which foreign solution it can replace.
