Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin dismissed Andrei Ivanov from the post of first deputy head of the Ministry of Economy at his request. The prime minister signed the resignation order on February 17. Murat Kerefov, manager of the Bank of Russia branch for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, may become the new deputy head of the Ministry of Economy.

At the ministry, Andrey Ivanov oversaw issues related to the launch of a new investment cycle and was responsible for the program to increase labor productivity in the economy. The Ministry of Economy told Interfax that Mr. Ivanov wrote a letter of resignation “of his own free will.” Mr. Ivanov became the first deputy head of the Ministry of Economy in the summer of 2020. Prior to that, since 2012, Andrey Ivanov was Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Economy has not yet commented on the issue of Mr. Ivanov’s successor.
