Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild may have been named first runner-up in the 2023 Miss Universe pageant, but she revealed in a recent interview that she feels much happier when she gets to be a normal person at home, without all the makeup and glamour.

The 27-year-old beauty queen shared her preference in an interview with content creator Luis Portelles, which was uploaded onto his YouTube channel last Monday. Porsild expressed that she feels more comfortable and confident when she’s not tied to aspects such as makeup and glamorous outfits.

“When everything comes off, I am much more happy,” said Porsild, revealing that while the makeup, hair, and clothes of a beauty queen can build confidence, she doesn’t want her confidence to be tied to things that can be easily stripped away.

She also stated that she tries to wear as little makeup as possible whenever she can, to show that “beauty queens are humans as well.” Porsild emphasized that beauty queens also have lazy days and do normal people things, just like everyone else.

The Miss Universe 2023 pageant took place on Saturday in El Salvador, with Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios being crowned the winner. Porsild’s second-place finish is Thailand’s highest placement in the Miss Universe pageant since 1988.

If Palacios is unable to fulfill her duties as the winner, Porsild — as the first-runner up — will take her place, per the rules of the pageant. With her down-to-earth attitude and commitment to showing that beauty queens are just like everyone else, Porsild has undoubtedly won the hearts of many, regardless of the outcome of the pageant.
