The representative of India, Hernaz Sando, was announced this morning (Monday) as the 70th Miss Universe in the framework of the competition that took place in Eilat. Sando is expected to move to New York next year to represent the Miss Universe brand.

After the win, Sando said: “It has been a once in a lifetime experience,” adding: “The last three weeks have been a dream. I am honored to represent this inspiring organization, and hope to serve the global community to the best of my ability in the coming year.”

The competition, in which 80 participants took part, was broadcast live from Eilat, hosted by Steve Harvey, alongside TV man and style expert Carson Cresley. During the evening, Noa Kirl performed on stage.

Israel’s representative in the competition, 22-year-old beauty queen Noa Kochba, did not pass the first stage. This, after during the general rehearsal she felt bad and fainted. Kochba was evacuated for behind-the-scenes medical treatment and received an infusion. After fainting, she said: “Thank you everyone for the concern, I feel good and strong, the MDA team treated me behind the scenes with dedication.”
