Washington: The Joe Biden administration has imposed the first sanctions on North Korean citizens. The U.S. embargo comes after North Korea’s successive hypersonic missile tests.
The U.S. has imposed sanctions on Russian company Persek LLC, six Koreans and a Russian citizen. The U.S. Treasury Department for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence said North Korea had acquired equipment from Russia and China to build and test missiles. The current embargoers are those who smuggle goods from these countries into North Korean weapons tests.
The U.S. has said that hypersonic missile test software, chemicals, and steel for construction were sourced from China by its Korean counterparts and that North Korea has a large stockpile of weapons banned by the world.
