Mistake in Linking Aadhaar Numbers with Electricity Connection Numbers: Electricity Board Action Order | Malfunction in linking of Aadhaar numbers with electricity connection numbers

by time news

Chennai: It has been reported that there have been errors in linking Aadhaar numbers with electricity connection numbers.

There are 2.67 crore electricity consumers in Tamil Nadu who use 100 units of free electricity and 500 units at subsidized rates. On October 6, the Electricity Board announced that all free and subsidized electricity consumers should link their Aadhaar number with their electricity connection number. Subsequently, from November 28, all electricity consumers linked their Aadhaar number with their electricity connection number.

The work of linking Aadhaar number was done not only on the website, but also in the electricity board offices. For this purpose, special camps were conducted in the power board offices across Tamil Nadu. Also, the power board launched a new website https://adhar.tnebltd.org/Aadhaar/ to link Aadhaar number with electricity connection.

First, December 31 was announced as the last day. Then it was extended till January 31. Following this, the Minister of Electricity Senthil Balaji announced that the deadline for this will be extended till February 15.

In this case, till yesterday (February 6) 97 percent people have linked Aadhaar number with electricity connection. It has been revealed that there was a mistake in linking the Aadhaar numbers with the electricity connection numbers of the station. The Electricity Board has issued an action order in this regard.

In this order, “Aadhaar numbers of owner, tenant, co-owner have been linked with electricity connection number without their knowledge. It has been found that a large number of unrelated Aadhaar numbers have been linked to electricity connection numbers to show that Aadhaar linking work is going on in full swing.

By such acts the very purpose of the scheme is defeated. So the field workers should monitor this and ensure that only the owners’ Aadhaar number is linked. Higher officials should pay special attention and communicate the details of the work. All Chief Engineers of Divisional Divisions, Supervising Engineers shall keep a close eye on irregularities in Aadhaar,” the order said.
