On Tuesday, the stock indices in the United States closed in a mixed trend, with the Dow Jones losing 0.22% at the close of trading. However, gains in certain sectors propelled other indexes higher.

The S&P 500 index ended with a decrease of 0.06%, while the Nasdaq climbed by 0.31%. Among the leading shares, Apple (NASDAQ:) stood out as it added 2.11% to its value, while Merck & Co. (NYSE:) and Verizon Communications (NYSE:) also saw gains. Procter & Gamble (NYSE:), Goldman Sachs (NYSE:), and the Dow (NYSE:) were among the worst performers of the session, each seeing declines.

In the NASDAQ index, Chanson International Holding (NASDAQ:) climbed to an all-time high, adding 64.14% to its value, while Bit Brother (NASDAQ:) fell by 51.73%, reaching a three-year low.

The gold futures contract for February delivery lost 0.22%, closing at $2,037.65 per ounce, while crude oil futures for delivery in January saw a decrease of 0.74%, reaching a price of $72.50 per barrel. The EUR/USD pair maintained stability, trading at a price of 1.08, and the USD/JPY pair decreased to the level of 147.18.

Despite the mixed trend in the stock market, the futures contracts on the US dollar index traded up 0.26%, settling at 103.92. Overall, the number of declining stocks exceeded the number of stocks that closed higher on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, pointing to the broader mixed trend in trading on Tuesday.
