MK Nir Orbach has announced that he will no longer vote with the coalition

by time news

MK Nir Orbach from the right informed the coalition management that he will no longer support the laws that the government brings to the approval of the Knesset plenum. This is until the Judea and Samaria Regulations Law is passed. “Lost control” of their faction member.

Bennett’s frequent maintenance meetings with Auerbach are intended to get him to postpone the decision to overthrow the government until the end of the month, so this will also be the last chance to approve the Judea and Samaria Regulations. In the meantime, it was decided not to put the law to a vote today, partly due to statements by MK Rinawi Zoabi against the law and similar things by MK Mazen Ghanaim. As long as the heads of the two parties fail to get them to resign from the Knesset – the coalition does not have a majority of supporters of the law.

The right is trying to persuade Orbach not to promote unilateral moves to dissolve the Knesset. In the meantime, the law to dissolve the Knesset will not go to a vote this coming Wednesday, and the way to dissolve the Knesset, even if it was paved by Orbach’s announcement, will be postponed for at least the next week.

Orbach’s ultimatum was given until the end of June – until then either the Judea and Samaria Law will be passed in the Knesset or it will no longer be part of the coalition. Meanwhile, the coalition is paralyzed and will not be able to pass laws other than laws in broad agreement with the opposition. The government, as long as it is dependent on the Knesset and legislation, will not be able to function.

The government cannot pass laws in the Knesset

Already today, following threats from the chairman of the Economics Committee, Michael Bitton, and the fact that Orbach was not present in the Knesset, the coalition withdrew the agenda and there will be no plenary votes on government laws today.

In practice, without Orbach and Silman, the coalition has no majority to pass laws and in the joint list suspended the behind-the-scenes cooperation with the coalition and announced that they would work together with the other members of the opposition to overthrow the government.

An official statement issued by Auerbach stated that “after a week of meetings with the Prime Minister and other parties – I have come to the conclusion that the coalition can not continue to exist in the current conduct. About a year ago, my friends and I believed that it was possible and necessary to get Israel out of the spin, we formed a coalition based on very clear guidelines, both at the ideological level and at the executive level.

“Unfortunately, the coalition today is not fulfilling its mission. On the one hand, throughout the year we worked on a variety of issues to strengthen and fortify the State of Israel, and on the other hand extremist and anti-Zionist elements such as MK Ganaim and Zoabi took the coalition in problematic directions, and used it as their hostage. At the same time, we have completely failed to lift the spirits of the people and this is the main task of the government, any government.

“It is important to note, as I have said in the past, that I will not let the government rely on the joint list. Unfortunately, we are on the verge of a slippery slope that could lead us there. I do not think going to the polls is the preferred alternative. “I will not vote for the dissolution of the Knesset. I will work with all my might for a stable government with a national spirit, as we pledged about a year ago. I informed the prime minister this morning that in the current state of affairs – I am not part of the coalition.”
