According to a report on the YNET website, the faculty members in the office of Attorney General Gali in Rabbi Miara recommended investigating MKs Ahmad Tibi, Ayman Odeh and Ofer Kasif from the joint list.

The recommendation for an investigation after the three were documented last month is to confront police during demonstrations and go out against the police in general.

Already last month, the police wrote a letter to the Attorney General, Gali in Rabbi Miara, requesting that she be allowed to open a criminal investigation against MKs Ahmad Tibi and Ofer Kasif from the joint list. This follows the published documentation of the two confronting police officers and assaulting them violently.

According to the police statement, “Following events from recent days and under the direction of the Commissioner, the Israel Police Investigations and Intelligence Division collected materials documenting MKs Ahmad Tibi and Ofer Kasif in front of police officers in the Jerusalem and SJ districts.”

It was further stated that the materials collected were sent to the Attorney General along with a letter from the police requesting approval of the opening of an investigation into assaulting police officers, failure of a police officer in the performance of his duties, threats, and interference with a police officer in the performance of his duties. Her request to the Attorney General was previously examined by the Police Investigations Division, which found that there was room to open a criminal investigation against them in light of the materials collected.

As you may recall, last weekend an unusual video was released showing Tibi confronting police officers who arrested a young Arab. In the documentation distributed on the networks, Tibi was seen screaming at the police and pulling the Arab detainee out of their hands. At one point, Tibi managed to free the Arab detainee from the police, who started running after the detainee.

At the same time, documentation was published in which Kasif was seen beating a policeman during a demonstration in the southern Hebron Mountains. Kasif arrived at the scene with his vehicle, and at one point two policemen stood up and stopped the vehicle. One of the officers knocked with his hands on the hood – and Kasif got out of the vehicle and hit the officer in the head. At this point, a confrontation developed between the two, during which Kasif shouted at the policeman that he had immunity due to being a Knesset member.

In addition, the chairman of the joint list, MK Ayman Odeh, released a video in which he calls on police officers of Arab descent “to throw the weapons in the face and tell them our place is not with you.”

The video shows Odeh turning to police officers of Arab descent and saying: “It is a humiliation that it would be acceptable for a young man or his family for one of our sons to join the security forces.”

Odeh added that “our historical position is that we will be with our people to end the murderous occupation, for the establishment of a state of Palestine and for Palestinian flags on the walls of Jerusalem. Every young person must not join the forces of humiliation and hatred.
