Erode: Condemning the hike in petrol and diesel prices, the Congress MLA, Mr. Evara, came in procession in a cattle cart and staged a protest in Erode.
The protest was led by district chief Rajagopal on behalf of the Congress, condemning the federal government for raising petrol, diesel and gas prices. General Secretary Jubair Ahmed and Mohammad Tawfiq were among those present. Erode East MLA, Mr. Evara, came in procession in a cattle cart and spoke:
Under the Congress regime, the price of a gas cylinder has gone up from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000. As petrol and diesel prices rise day by day, so do the prices of all commodities. As the customs duty has also gone up, so has the price of all the goods that come in the vehicles. It is as if the federal government has legally approved this pricing. Talking about this, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Fuel prices have also gone up as people have gone to bikes and cars instead of buses and trains.”
Just as the agrarian law was repealed by the struggle of the peasants, the struggle of the people must put an end to such rises by the Central Government. Thus he spoke.
