Kallakurichi MLA, Senthilkumar has demanded that the water supply channel of Kallakurichi-lakes should be repaired and barrages should be constructed at three places across the river.

Through this, 16 lakes in Kallakurichi district and 9 lakes in Cuddalore district are receiving water and agricultural lands are getting irrigation facility.

The inflow channel of the lakes is unmaintained. Therefore funds should be earmarked for the restoration of water supply channel to Durwari, shutters in Pakambadi dam and shutters of lake sluices.

5 barrages have been announced in Kallakurichi district in the grant request for the year 2021-22. In Kallakurichi block, the ground water level has been found to be low.
