MLB Commercial Deals: Ford Partnership, Rays Jersey Patch & More

by Liam O'Connor

The business of baseball continues off the field as Major League Baseball (MLB) and several of its franchises announce significant new sponsorship deals. These partnerships, ranging from a league-wide agreement with Ford to individual team deals with Webull, PureWager Group, and Equifax, signal a robust commercial landscape ahead of the 2026 season, and beyond. The influx of investment underscores the enduring appeal of America’s pastime and the evolving strategies teams are employing to connect with fans and secure financial stability.

Ford Motor Company has become MLB’s official automotive partner in a multi-year, exclusive agreement. The partnership will see Ford branding prominently displayed across MLB properties, including opening day, All-Star Week, the Field of Dreams Game, and the World Series. Beyond visibility, the collaboration will feature co-branded competitions and fan experiences, culminating in Ford serving as the presenting sponsor of MLB’s July 4th promotional campaign in 2026. This extends Ford’s long history of sports sponsorships, aiming to tap into the passionate MLB fanbase. The deal highlights a strategic alignment between two iconic American brands, both focused on innovation and tradition, as noted by MLB Chief Marketing Officer Uzma Rawn Dowler. “Ford and MLB are both American heritage brands that continue to innovate in their industries and strengthen their popularity and relevance decade after decade,” Dowler said. “We love the creative marketing energy that Ford plans to bring to MLB, while the national scale of our content is sure to drive even greater consideration and fan engagement for our new partner.”

Rays Complete Jersey Patch Roster

On the franchise level, the Tampa Bay Rays have finalized a jersey patch partnership with financial services and online trading company Webull, completing MLB’s roster of teams with a patch sponsor. Webull’s logo will adorn the sleeves of Rays jerseys throughout the 2026 campaign. This agreement builds on an existing relationship that began in 2025, when Webull partnered with the Rays during a period when the team was temporarily displaced from Tropicana Field due to stadium damage, playing games at Steinbrenner Field. The expansion to a jersey patch sponsorship signifies Webull’s growing commitment to the team and the Tampa Bay community. The introduction of jersey patches across MLB began in 2023, offering a new revenue stream for teams and a prominent branding opportunity for sponsors.

Orioles and PureWager Group Partner for Fan Experience

The Baltimore Orioles are too enhancing the fan experience with a new partnership with PureWager Group, designated as the team’s exclusive sports betting partner. PureWager Group will have a significant presence at Camden Yards, including title sponsorship of the newly constructed ‘PureWager Pavilion’ – an events space built as part of ongoing stadium upgrades completed in 2025. This partnership reflects the growing integration of sports betting into the MLB landscape, offering fans new ways to engage with the game. PureWager Group, recently entering the US betting market, aims to leverage the partnership to build brand awareness and provide responsible entertainment options for Orioles fans. “Our goal is to enhance the fan experience responsibly, using our technology and operational expertise to create engaging, community-first entertainment that complements the game we all love,” said Elliot Banks, group chief executive of PureWager.

Braves Secure Long-Term Stability with Equifax Extension

The Atlanta Braves are demonstrating a commitment to long-term stability through a series of partnership extensions. Most recently, the team secured a new eight-season deal with Equifax, extending a relationship that began in 2011 through the 2033 season. Equifax will maintain its prominent branding presence on the left wall at Truist Park. This extension is part of a broader strategy by the Braves, who have also recently extended agreements with Arrow Exterminators through 2036 and Delta Air Lines through 2035. The Braves’ consistent success on the field – winning the World Series in 2021 and the National League East Division title from 2018-2023 – has undoubtedly contributed to their ability to secure these long-term partnerships. The team secured a wild card playoff berth in 2024 before missing the postseason last year.

These recent sponsorship announcements demonstrate a healthy commercial environment for MLB and its teams. As the league prepares for the 2026 season, continued investment and innovative partnerships will be crucial for enhancing the fan experience and ensuring the long-term success of the sport. Looking ahead, the focus will be on activating these partnerships and delivering tangible benefits to fans. The success of these collaborations will depend on creating engaging experiences and leveraging the combined strengths of MLB, its teams, and its sponsors. The next key date for the Braves will be the start of the 2026 season, when the full impact of the Equifax extension will be visible at Truist Park.
