Maison Margiela & Dr. Martens Launch Second Collaborative Footwear Capsule

A striking new collection reimagines iconic silhouettes, blending high fashion and British bootmaking tradition. The MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens collaboration, released on July 20, 2025, presents a capsule of reconstructed footwear, available now on both brands’ websites and through select retailers.

According to a company release, the partnership is built on “a playful mix of shoemaking tradition and advanced design.” This marks the second time the two brands have joined forces, with MM6’s signature “destructive lens” applied to Dr. Martens’ classic forms.

A Hybrid Aesthetic in Pure White

This season’s collection features two distinct hybrid styles, both rendered in a striking, all-white color palette. The monochromatic finish is “reminiscent of MM6’s core aesthetic and DM’s painted from the SS25 Spring/Summer Collection,” highlighting a shared design sensibility.

The first style merges the beloved Dr. Martens 1460 8-eye boot with the 1461 3-eye shoe. Key details include a distinctive bump toe, MM6 Maison Margiela numbers embossed on the ankle shaft, and custom-made white AirWair heel loops.

The second design innovatively combines the 1461 shoe with the Penton loafer, creating a unique hybrid that “combines the lace-up structure with the ease of slip-ons to express the idea of shoes inside the shoe.” Both styles utilize a combination of smooth and Virginia leather, complemented by matching welt stitching and Dr. Martens’ signature bouncing sole.

Continuing a Successful Partnership

The release of this capsule underscores the growing trend of collaborations between luxury fashion houses and heritage brands. One analyst noted that these partnerships allow both parties to reach new audiences and inject fresh perspectives into established designs. The MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr. Martens collection is now available for purchase, offering a unique statement piece for fashion enthusiasts and footwear collectors alike.
