Victorious against Matt Frevola during UFC 296 at Madison Square Garden in New York, Benoît Saint-Denis is now tackling another fight: his image. A former member of the special forces, within the first Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment, and very patriotic, the Frenchman is regularly linked to far-right ideas.

On November 10, on the eve of its fight, the Argos collective, from the Génération Identitaire movement, dissolved in 2021, notably organized a competition linked to Benoît Saint-Denis. “At a time when French youth are wallowing in childish comfort, Benoît perfectly embodies the values of combativeness, loyalty and strength that Argos advocates,” the collective wrote on its social networks. We therefore decided to organize a big competition on this occasion. » A publication that did not please him at all.

Asked by Release, his wife, Laura Saint-Denis, denounced the recovery of her husband’s image by the extreme right, judging its use “fraudulent and unauthorized”. According to her, who responded personally to Argos, “God of War” is “opposed to the speeches of this group”.

This is not the first time that such a link has been made. Last October, the media Loopsider published a video evoking French fighters with nationalist and far-right ideologies. BSD had been cited among these, notably because of a tattoo of a Templar cross on the fighter’s torso. “A very serious amalgam” that he immediately denounced, before the video was deleted. “It’s just sad,” he lamented in our columns. In this beautiful profession that is journalism, having to start defaming people who are starting to have success in order to make money is a shame. I pray for these people, that they grow, that they evolve. » A clear and repeated speech by his companion.
