MMA star Conor McGregor is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a bathroom on the sidelines of the fourth NBA final in Miami on June 9, several media report, taking up information from TMZ.
Opposed to the Denver Nuggets in this final, the Miami Heat team confirmed to be “aware of these accusations” and to conduct an investigation. “Pending the outcome of this investigation, we will refrain from further comment,” the Miami Heats said on Twitter. The NBA and the UFC, the American MMA league, also told the American media The Athletic that they were aware of these accusations and that they were seeking to gather more information.
The facts, revealed by TMZ, would have taken place during Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets, which was attended by Conor McGregor. The star had been invited to promote a painkiller spray – taking the opportunity to hit the Heat mascot twice.
Formal notice
According to a letter of formal notice sent by her lawyer, and consulted by several media, the complainant was separated from a person who accompanied her by members of the security of the NBA and the Miami Heats then taken to a toilet where McGregor and his bodyguard were waiting for him. These security members would have forbidden him to leave, while preventing anyone from entering inside.
McGregor allegedly “aggressively kissed” her, reports TMZ Sports, before forcing her to perform oral sex on him. The fighter then pinned him against a wall in an attempt to rape her. After struggling, the complainant eventually managed to flee and surrendered to local authorities, the letter said.
Contacted by The Athletic, the Miami police were not immediately able to confirm this information. Representatives for Conor McGregor, contacted by TMZ Sports and the Daily Mail, denied the accusations.
