Moanathe animated film that premiered Disney in the year 2016, will have its new live-action version. The mouse company surprises again by announcing an adaptation of an animated film, taking into account that just a week ago they revealed that they were working on the remake of ‘The Aristocats’.

Who has given the surprise news has been none other than Dwayne Johnson, who played Maui in the animated film. The former WWE wrestler will be the producer of the adaptation, as well as reincarnating his character. And it is not the only novelty. Auli’i Cravalhointerpreter of Moana, will also embark on this adaptation at 22 years of age.

Adding to the excitement of the movie, Johnson revealed that filming has already started in Hawaii, so we’ll probably have to wait until next year for a trailer. ‘The Rock’ seems to have found a good business partner in Disney, since they have been working on some productions together. Together with Emily Blunt, they starred in ‘Jungle Cruise’, an adventure film based on the attraction found in Disneyworld.

Moana took home the Best Animated Feature award at the 2017 Oscars, beating out movies like ‘Zootopia‘ y ‘Kubo and the search for the samurai‘. At the box office, the film did quite well, earning 644 million dollars.
