Bangladesh National Parliament Deputy Speaker Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku said, mobile addiction pushes boys and girls away from books. For this, a book reading movement should be developed in the society.

He said this at the ‘Proud Baba Award-2024’ program organized by Uttara Public Library on the occasion of World Father’s Day at Uttara Ladies Club on Wednesday (July 10) on the theme ‘Baba means the big shadow of the banyan tree’. The Deputy Speaker said, just as a father keeps a family under shade like a banyan tree, a family can be destroyed due to his irresponsibility. He said, the importance of library is immense to build an enlightened society. Mobile-addiction pushes boys and girls away from books. Therefore, the movement of reading books should be developed in the society. Parents of the family should make their children interested in reading books.

Shamsul Haque Tuku said that all the present proud fathers who have received the medal, have also marked significant success in their respective fields of work. The Deputy Speaker presented the awards to the proud fathers nominated in the ceremony. Earlier, the respected fathers were presented with Uttariyas by Uttara Public Library. After the national anthem was played at the beginning of the program, Uttara Public Library founder and president Mohammad Tarekuzzaman Khan delivered the welcome address.
