The Mobile Consulate experienced “an unprecedented influx” of members of the Moroccan community residing in Mons and its region, which demonstrates a “great enthusiasm” for this type of operation after an interruption that lasted two years due to the Covid 19 pandemic, and the desire of Moroccan nationals to travel en masse to Morocco in the wake of the resumption of maritime and air links and the easing of formalities for access to the national territory, notes the same source.

The people who visited the Mobile Consulate premises expressed their “great appreciation” of this initiative which allowed them to avoid travelling to Liège and to benefit from the various consular services, praising the timing of this operation which coincides with the approach of the summer period.

On the sidelines of this operation, the Consul General of Morocco in Liège and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Abdelkader Abidine, was received at the City Hall by the Mayor of Mons, Nicolas Martin, with whom the various aspects related to the strengthening of cooperation with local authorities and the implementation of projects led by Moroccan nationals residing in the region were discussed.

The Consul General also met with officials from the Moroccan Community Consultative Council in Mons, who work to strengthen ties between members of the Moroccan community and who organize several activities related to promoting the image of Morocco in the region, including the Mons Day of Moroccan Culture.

A meeting was also held with civil society actors who work in the area of ​​exchange of good practices, capacity building and training with Moroccan institutions.
