Designated Israel Prize laureate Prof. Amnon Sheshua warned in closed conversations that Mobileye may leave Israel, according to a publication by News 12.

According to the publication, the CEO and founder of the autonomous vehicle company received hints that the European Union would not allow companies to hold information in Israel due to the legal legislation and the significant damage to democracy.

Mobileye develops and markets technology for the automotive sector and is controlled by Intel, the company was issued at the end of last year on Nasdaq and is currently traded at a value of 31.5 billion dollars.

In the company’s expanded report for 2022 published at the beginning of March this year, Mobileye added to the general risks concerning its operations in Israel the subject of the reform promoted by the government. According to the company, “the political, economic and military conditions in Israel and the region may directly affect our business and operations, including, among other things, the efforts to promote legal reform led by the Israeli government, the final outline of which is still unknown.”

According to Mobileye’s extended report, at the end of last year the company employed about 3,500 workers in eight countries, the vast majority of them (3,200) in Israel.
