In Germany, they were a few thousand to have answered the call of the Union of German trade unionists to demonstrate in the streets on this May 1st. Among the main demands were the issue of higher salaries and a better distribution of resources. Demonstrations have also taken place in Turkey, particularly in Istanbul where the situation has become tense between demonstrators and the police, while a presidential election is scheduled in less than two weeks.

In Russia, despite the ban on assembly, a few dozen demonstrators were still present to express their demands. A reverse scenario in Ukraine where no demonstrations took place. Labor Day echoes a time that Ukrainians want to leave behind.
