The Moderates, the Center Party, the Christian Democrats, the Customs Party and defected Social Democrats take over the government in Botkyrka. It was determined at an extra municipal council on Monday, writes Mitti.

– It feels good, and still a little surreal. It will probably land soon, says Stina Lundgren (M), new chairman of the municipal board.

It means the end of several decades of social democratic rule.

The coalition calls itself “Botkyrka’s best”. The change of power takes place at the end of the budget work and, according to Mitti, it may take until December before the budget for 2024 is taken up for decision in the council.

At the beginning of September, about 40 members left the Social Democrats in Botkyrka. Behind the mass defection was, among other things, the turbulence surrounding ABF’s recreational facilities and the former chairman of the municipal board, Ebba Östlin.

Nine S members of the council have also chosen to leave the party. They have instead joined the M-led coalition which is now taking over.
