Under the Cheetah program of the Indian Air Force, it has been reported that Defense Department Arms Manufacturing Companies in India will manufacture and supply drones as weapons to India’s three armed forces. This project will develop Heron drones in India. The Israeli-made Heron drones are medium-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles. These can carry a weight of up to 250 kg.
They are planning to install radars, cameras etc. and engage in monitoring. In this case, the Heron drone will automatically return to the base even if the communication of the aircraft is lost. They are planning to use this drone in the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army as well. The drone will also be designed to be armed with laser-guided missiles.
